The Quickening

The Quickening refers to a phenomenon in the Highlander films and television series. In the Highlander universe when one Immortal beheads another, the LIFE FORCE is released into the victor or to the closest Immortal nearby. This transfer of energy is known as the Quickening.



Interestingly "quickening" is also the term used when a pregnant mother can begin to feel her baby moving around inside her uterus. And in some culture, which I can't reference at the moment, when the mother first begins to feel movement, it is believed that is when the LIFE FORCE, or soul, enters the unborn baby.

And its finally happened. Immortality has been transferred to my little highlander-in life force terms anyway-the body will eventually die as bodies do-but I'm looking forward to meeting this person and discovering all the fascinating and mundane things about him/her.

My Morning Routine

7-8am Roll (literally)out of bed-put slipper socks on and put my hair up-wander downstairs-say good morning to Josh-peek in at adeline through the crack in her curtain-take a few sips of Josh's bowl of coffee-say hello to Pru sleeping on the dryer-wait til I can hack up some phlegm and give my nose a good blow and poke a qtip in my ears-make myself some breakfast and read yesterdays northern hills paper-put the dishes from the dishwasher away and reload it-check my email and lists-pick up a few messes-sit quietly with Josh a few minutes before he goes to work.
